Roll runner rugs are machine-woven products woven
on continuous rolls. The standard width is 30” (2’6”), but some are made
narrow (26”)and some up to 3’ wide. They are made in both wool and synthetic
fibers. They are used primarily to cover stairways and are a lesser expensive
alternative to hand knotted rugs.
Roll Runners can be made into hallway runners and, in that case, the ends of
the rugs can be ‘capped’ to give the appearance of a finished rug. When doing
a straight stairway, we always suggest ordering an extra 18”, which will allow
you to ‘shift’ the runner at some future point, thereby doubling the life of
the goods.
Roll runners are the best solution when doing a curved stairway as those need
to be installed with individually cut ‘pie-shape’ pieces. In cases where the
stairway turns at 90° angles, a roll runner product can be crafted to look like
it is continuous by ‘mitering’ the landing areas. We have the best installation
man in central Ohio!
We have over 350 Roll Runner samples, in a wide variety of traditional and non-traditional
